Food Safety Starts with Stoplight® Food Safety Program
CRC Industries recognizes the issues facing today’s food processors and food manufacturers as they relate to the use of maintenance chemicals. We understand the importance of regulatory compliance and make it our business to stay informed of changes that can affect the food industry. As part of our on-going commitment to this complex industry, we offer the StopLight® Food Safety Program.
Food safety is a primary concern across the entire supply chain. Food processors and packaging manufacturers are tasked with keeping their plants running efficiently, while preventing biological, chemical and physical contamination of their goods. To help minimize the risk of MRO chemicals across all food processing and non-production areas, CRC developed the StopLight® Food Safety Program – a visual identification labeling program that ensures maintenance employees use and store MRO chemicals in the proper locations.
The CRC StopLight® Food Safety Program involves the use of color-coded stickers placed directly on CRC MRO chemical products to determine where the products can be used, who may use these products and where they should be stored. Non-food compounds and application areas are coded RED, YELLOW or GREEN. The stickers provide flexibility within the program, and each facility makes their own determination on how to color code processing areas, applications and products satisfying HACCP initiatives. Working with our HACCP certified sales organization can assist in this process.
Third-Party Certification and Beyond
In conjunction with the StopLight® Food Safety Program, CRC offers a wide range of maintenance chemicals that are NSF Registered and approved for use in a food processing establishment. Each NSF Registered CRC product receives a registration number, which is prominently displayed on the product label with the corresponding NSF category code. In addition, NSF Registration Letters are available on the CRC web site.
Utilizing elements of the CRC’s Risk Reduction Partnership Plan™(R2P2™), CRC will supply your Maintenance Department with industry-leading product performance, provide your Food Safety team with third-Party certification of these products and enable your plant to reduce the number of products in use. The CRC StopLight® Food Safety Program has proven helpful in improving audit scores and supplier reviews and provides a program that meets the needs of Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI), such as BRC, SQF and FSSC 22000.
